Of course, if your connection is not getting to the source then conversion isn’t the issue. Using a tool like Razor lets you see the data in the source system so that you can work out what’s weird about it. I gather from other posts that I have read that the error number you mentioned can also come from type conversion issues. When I was working with Informix I regularly used an application called RazorSQL to look deep in to the DB as you cannot use MS SQL tools.

Sorry to hear that you have the issue Andrea but sadly I am not longer working on this project so have no INFORMIX to connect to now and therefore cannot hope to reproduce the error you are having.įrom what I have read though, the error is reported from ODBC and not from SSIS therefore the issue is definitely in the ODBC config end of things. Rather than repeat an already excellent article I suggest you follow this link to an excellent step by step installation and setup guide from Dinesh (DSP).Ĭonnecting Informix databases through SSIS

Once you have the ODBC driver you will also need to set up the connection and for this you might need to learn about SETNET32, the services file in Windows, the SQLHosts registry entries and you might be just a little confused about how to create the connection in SSIS as it is a little different to all the other types of connection. What you need is the “IBM INFORMIX ODBC DRIVER” from the 32 bit SDK. Installation of an older 32 bit driver will work and can be administered via C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe but you might end up with the “INFORMIX 3.32 32 BIT” driver which just does not work.

If you try to install the 32 bit driver from the IBM site then it will baulk stating that it is incorrect version for your system.

If you simply install the 64 bit INFORMIX ODBC driver you will see the driver in the ODBC manager but you will not be able to use it.

The data warehouse server in question is Windows Server 64bit and my development machine is Windows 7 professional 64 bit but you cannot just install 64 bit INFORMIX ODBC drivers as Visual Studio (BIDS) is 32 bit. SSIS handles connections to older versions of SQL Server perfectly as expected and does a pretty good job with Excel and flat files but INFORMIX is a major pain in the backside and, as expected, neither Microsoft or IBM are particularly helpful. Source data comes in many forms including SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, flat files (csv), Excel and Informix. doing table joins between ContactCallDetail and Resource tables to get the “resourceID” reading the name or userID of the Agent answering calls, etc).I have a customer for whom I am building a data warehouse solution using SQL server 2008. I’d also recommend doing some reading up on SQL commands, so that you can get more meaningful results (i.e. To get a description of all the tables and fields available, you want to look for the Unified CCX DB Schema Guide for the corresponding version of UCCX. The queries can be as simple or as complicated as you need. So that finishes up just a simple introduction. As this is just in my test lab, there were many days with no calls at all. Printing the results, we can see just a simple date and number of calls, and these will only be for the business hours (8:00 to 18:00) specified in the query. Here I followed the guide Create an ODBC Connection to connect to Cisco UCCX serverThe built in user account is “uccxhruser”, and the password for this can be set under CCX Admin > Tools > Password Management. To build my File string, I went to File DSN > Add and then specified the filename, and followed the guide above, and finally saved the result. You then get a file that looks something like this:ĭRIVER=)

Installing the whole SDK worked fine though. There’s another standalone executable, but this wouldn’t install for me and had just a cryptic error message that was very unhelpful. I used “Informix Downloads (Informix Client SDK Developer Edition for Windows x86_64, 64-bit)”
